QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE……
When is the right time to look into assisted living?
The need to transition is not always easy to recognize or initiate. Maybe forgetfulness is on the rise. Maybe loneliness is a factor. Maybe mobility is impaired and a large home isn’t practical anymore. Everyone has unique circumstances that must be considered. When nursing home care may not be necessary, we are ready to help you evaluate your situation and plan a more fulfilling lifestyle. Call us and come see what we can offer.
Can I bring my own furniture?
Yes, we want your room to be your own, so you can bring your furniture, pictures, towels, bedding, hobbies, and whatever else you need.
Do you have “levels”?
While many facilities have levels according to the needs of the resident, we have one flat rate. If you are looking, be sure to ask about the cost of extra help.
What is the cost of your rooms?
Our efficiency apartment is currently $3,500 per month and the one bedroom is $3,800. Our couple rate is $7,000. Because our rates have not been raised in 8 years, but groceries and all other expenses have, it is necessary for us to raise our rates as of January 1, 2020. An efficiency room will then be $3,750, the one bedroom $4,050. and the couple rate $7,500.
Do you accept Medicaid?
Because we are a small business, we do not accept medicaid. Possible funding sources are pensions, long term care insurance, and VA Aid and Attendance. Veterans and veterans spouses, can call 419-282-4225 to apply for assistance.
Do you accept Alzheimer’s patients?
We do have a few residents with mild Alzheimer’s. If your loved one is a wanderer, they can sometimes be redirected. You will need to talk to John, our administrator/LPN for these concerns.
Can someone be in a wheelchair or on oxygen?
Yes, as long as they are a one person assist. In other words, it does not take two people to help them out of the wheelchair. Yes, oxygen is fine.
How long can a resident stay at McMullen Assisted Care?
If a resident becomes a wanderer outside the facility, an alternative plan will be discussed. If a resident is no longer a one person assisted, as stated above, they will need more nursing care than we can provide.
How much assistance are the residents given?
The residents are assisted with their medication, showering and dressing if needed, and personal hygiene.
Do you provide transportation?
There is no charge for in town doctor visits. There is a flat fee of $50. for out of town doctor visits.
When can we come visit?
We would love to give you a tour. Call us at 419-994-5405 and we can arrange a visit, including a complimentary meal.
