McMullen Assisted Care, located at 201 School Drive, was built in 2008. Residents can enjoy the privacy of one of the 16 apartment style units each offering living room, bedroom, kitchenette and bathroom with walk-in shower.
With the motto “Providing for your needs. Supporting your independence” the staff is here to help with daily needs allowing family and friends to have peace of mind. Those who are able can continue their lifestyle driving to church, appointments, or going out with friends. Transportation is available for those who require assistance.
John McMullen, LPN, is the administrator while his wife Mona, is the hair dresser and activity director. Daughter Brittany and daughter-in-law, Toni McMullen, LPN, also joined the family business.
“We especially emphasize due to our smaller size, our residents receive more personalized care.” John explained. “McMullen Assisted Care is all inclusive. Meals, laundry, housekeeping, personal care, assistance with medication, and TV service are all included.”
The staff of 14 has enabled the facility to be ranked 11th out of 598 facilities in the state 2013 Resident/Family Satisfaction Survey and consistently receive excellent reviews by Ohio Department of Health.
Residents enjoy outings to places such as the Biblewalk, Carousel Works, Mohican Treehouses, and Lunch Bunch. Chaplain visits, Communion, crafts, games, and Mystery Guests are also on the activity calendar. The location next to the high school enables students to visit and entertain.
McMullen Assisted Care also has an Adult Daycare Program. For less than home-care, a guest can visit from 7 am to 7 pm and receive 3 home cooked meals, activities, socialization with new friends, assistance with self- medication and a caring staff.
When the residents were asked by Mona what they liked best about McMullen Assisted Care, they replied “everyone’s friendly”, “the care is excellent”, “it’s very clean”, and “the food is great!” One resident summed it all up by saying “It’s just like being at home with one big family.”
